M/V Vega Stetind commended by Mongla Port Authority

A job well done to M/V Vega Stetind!

Last October 24, Thome Group’s managed bulk carrier Vega Stetind (IMO 9392729) participated in a rescue operation as they spotted a fishing vessel in distress and rescued 21 fishermen during typhoon “SITRANG,” 35 nautical miles south-southwest of Dubla, Bangladesh.

Despite the cyclonic condition, the attempted search and rescue were a successful operation. The 21 fishermen were safe and provided with food, clothing, and first aid arrangement. Mongla Port Authority congratulated the Vega Stetind team for their professional attitude and humanitarian act by issuing the Letter of Commendation.

Thome Group would like to thank the humanitarian act in saving life by Capt. Ranjit Advani, Chief Engineer Kaburugoda Samarabandu, and the entire crew, MRCC Chittagong, coastguard team, Mongla Port Control, and Mongla Pilot Station for their support in the search and rescue operations.
