Olav Nortun
Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Olav Nortun joined Thome as Chief Executive Officer of the Thome Group. Olav, a Norwegian national, brings with him vast experience in the maritime industry with more than 15 years of leading international operations.
He has worked with DNV GL for many years in different locations around the world, culminating in his most recent role as Executive Vice President of its Classification Division.
He has a Master of Science in Naval Architecture from the Norwegian Institute of Technology with executive education at INSEAD, Fontanebleau and IMD in Lausanne.
Martin Mcgregor
Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Martin McGregor joined the Thome Group as Chief Financial Officer in January 2009. As CFO, he oversees the financial and risk management operations of the Thome Group.
Prior to Thome, Martin gained broad international experience in senior roles in a number of multinational companies, most recently as International Finance Director with InFocus Corporation, where he was responsible for all finance operations outside of the US.
Martin earned a 1st Class Honours Degree as Bachelor of Science from the University of Bradford and qualified as Chartered Accountant with Price Waterhouse in 1994.
Yatin Gangla
Chief Technical Officer, Fleet Support and Innovation
Yatin is responsible for the running of the whole division, onboard and ashore, including Technical, Marine and Crewing functions, managing various types of bulk carriers from Handymax to VLOCs and tankers from Product Tankers to VLCCs.
Yatin joined Thome as a Chief Engineer and has worked as a Superintendent and Fleet Group Manager managing vessels belonging to some of the major ship owning companies in the world and has supervised tankers, gas carriers, bulk carriers and container vessels.
He has over 30 years of experience as a maritime professional.
Sean Hutchings
Director of Crewing, Strategic Marine HR
Sean Hutchings has 17 years of experience in Asia with DNV GL, including 10 years at a senior management level. He has managed a team of managers overseeing all maritime and offshore Classification activities for South East Asia and he has a wealth of managerial and technical expertise.
He has a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) from the University of Auckland, NZ. He is also a Member of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects, UK.
Mikkjal Poulsen
Managing Director, Bulk
Mikkjal has over two decades of broad experience within the maritime industry. As the senior management in various ship management companies, Mikkjal has ensured the stability of the business and its growth strategies through client acquisition efforts and enhancing existing business relations.
Mikkjal presides over the vessels’ daily operations, including technical and crew management.
Gautam Kashyap
Managing Director, Marine Services
Gautam joined Thome Group in 2017 as Vice President, Business Development. He is promoted to Chief Operating Officer, Marine Services in 2020. He oversees Marine Services division including Thome Agency, Travel, logistics and Marine Consultancy.
A Master Mariner, Gautam has over 25 years in Marine industry, including 10 years at sea.
Prior to Thome, Gautam has worked with leading ship owner, ship manager and trading house. He brings along a diverse experience in business development, asset management and ship management.
Tom Hamer
Managing Director, Offshore
Tom Hamer joined Thome in 2014 and is responsible for the overall management of the vessels and assets under Thome Oil & Gas and Thome Offshore Management.
Before joining Thome, Tom had worked in a global fleet management role for McDermott International, handling a diverse fleet of offshore construction vessels, including Dive Support Vessels, pipelay vessels, multipurpose construction vessels, and semi-submersible heavy lift barges.
Prior to working onshore, Tom sailed in ranks up to Master on various vessel types, mostly in the offshore and subsea construction sector. Tom holds an unlimited Master Mariner license and an MBA from the University of Strathclyde Business School.
Mladen Matak
Managing Director, Tanker Croatia
In a career spanning over 20 years, Mladen is a subject matter expert in his field. He provides leadership and strategic directions, particularly on nautical and operations governance. Previously in Shell International Trading and Shipping Company Limited (STASCO), he led a team in the Nautical Operations (LNG/Oil London fleet) that includes 13 LNG and 6 Product/Chemical carriers including LNG bunker barge. As a senior leader in STASCO, Mladen’s responsibilities include Health, Safety, Security, and Environment as well as Profit & Loss of his unit.
Sven Kruse
Managing Director, Thome Germany and Tanker Singapore
With more than 19 years of experience in the maritime Industry, Sven has been leading large teams since then. In 2004 he ended his seafaring career with a captain's license and a change ashore, where he started within the Ahrenkiel Group in Germany as DPA/CSO responsible for Gas Tankers, Chemical Tankers, Product/Crude Oil Tankers, Container Ships, and Bulk Carriers. In 2006, Sven started as a Marine/Vetting Superintendent in the Ahrenkiel tanker fleet before moving to TB Marine Shipmanagement in the same position in 2008. In 2011 he was promoted to Fleet Director, and in 2013 commissioned to set up a crewing platform, which he co-managed as Managing Director for TB Marine.
In 2017 Sven was in charge of initiating the technical platform for dry tonnage at TB Marine and additionally took over the position of Managing Director for the container fleet and exercised the position of fleet manager/director for the tanker fleet out. Sven has extensive knowledge of the regulations required by the Industry and the setup of strategic technology platforms. Sustainability and education are very important to him, and he greatly supports the same.
Since February 2023, he has taken on the position of Managing Director for Thome, Germany's dry and wet fleet.
